we work the board
pending was a number. now every card flags what's waiting, and you move it from a menu. no drag required.
you open the board. you stare.
pending is a number. in progress is a number. you don't know which card has a screenshot, which one a visitor answered last week, which one has been sitting there for a month.
that's the whole bug. not the columns. not the votes. the pile.
so i shipped the other half of the board: what's waiting, and a way to move it without a drag.
the card tells you
every card now flags three things:
- a visitor comment nobody on the team has answered in public
- a screenshot
- how many days it's been pending, once that's more than seven. amber edge.
you don't open the card to find out you're late. the card already knows.
the dashboard has the same list. "needs attention." six cards. most overdue first. pending over seven days, or a visitor waiting on a reply. empty state is "all caught up."
votes still measure demand. this measures whether you actually talked to anyone.
you don't have to drag
every card has a ⋯.
move it to another column. it lands at the end. reject still asks for a reason — that one stays a speed bump.
set a category. clear a category. no card page.
if you can edit the board, that's yours. everyone else still sees the flags.
on a phone the drag is gone. a finger on a card used to fight the scroll. now the body of the card is inert; the ⋯ sits above it. you triage from the menu.
an internal note is not a reply. on purpose.
the visitor can't see it. so it doesn't clear the flag.
you still owe them a public answer. the private thread is for the team. those are two different conversations.
rejected starts collapsed, too. a strip with a count. you can open it. the board remembers per project.
i don't need the graveyard taking a third of the screen while you're trying to see what's actually in motion.
why this
i don't need more charts.
i need to open the tab and know which three cards are holding a human.
the number on pending can go up this week. the badge stays grey. more pending is not a win. it's just a number.
if you're already on hoot: open the dashboard. then the board. pick a card that's been sitting. move it.
if you're not: usehoot.app
ask. ship. work the board. 🦉
