Triage product feedback from Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex

Last updated August 27, 2026 · by the Hoot team

Short answer

Hoot is a customer feedback board with a native MCP server. Point Claude Code, Cursor, or Codex at a project token and the agent can read, search, triage, and publish — next to the code it is already writing. Included in the free plan.

What the agent can do

Every tool is scoped to the project on the token. You never pass a project id.

Votes measure demand, not engineering priority. When two cards compete, the agent is told to surface tradeoffs, not pick a winner unless you ask.

Connect

Open the project → MCP. Generate a token. It is shown once. Then one command for Claude Code (HTTP transport + bearer header), or paste the JSON / TOML the panel prints for Cursor and Codex.

claude mcp add hoot --transport http --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_TOKEN" https://usehoot.app/mcp

The exact URL and header come from the panel so they stay in sync with the server. Do not commit the token. The panel has an env-var variant.

Why this instead of another dashboard

Most feedback tools assume you will open their tab. Hoot assumes you will not. The board still exists — public roadmap, changelog, widget — but the tedious half (categorize, dedupe, rewrite, close the loop) can happen where the work already is.

Frequently asked questions

Does Hoot have an MCP server?
Yes. Hoot ships a native MCP server scoped to one project. Claude Code, Cursor, and Codex can list, search, categorize, move, rewrite, comment, and publish cards. It is included in the free plan — no extra SKU.
Can Claude Code triage product feedback?
Yes. Generate a project token on the MCP panel, add Hoot with claude mcp add, and ask the agent to surface top-voted cards, categorize pending ones, or publish what just shipped. Votes still measure demand. You still decide what builds.
Does this work in Cursor and Codex too?
Yes. The same server speaks HTTP MCP. The MCP panel gives you the Claude one-liner, Cursor JSON, and Codex TOML. One token, one project, no board id to pass.
Is the MCP server on the free plan?
Yes. Free is one project and one seat. The full tool set is there. Pro is $19/month when you need more projects, more members, Slack, Telegram, or webhooks.
How is this different from a community Canny MCP?
Hoot's server is first-party. You do not paste a Canny API key into a third-party wrapper. The tools are built for triage in the editor: categorize, merge, move, publish changelog. Community wrappers around other boards exist; they are not this product.
