why hoot has no ai button

there is no sparkle icon in hoot.

no summarize this board. no ai triage. no suggested reply. i get asked about it. the answer is that i already shipped the bigger version and it doesn't live in my ui.

the button would know less

a summarize button inside hoot sees the board.

your agent sees the board and your codebase and the thing you're working on right now and the conversation you had with it an hour ago. it knows that card 42 is about the module you're refactoring today.

any button i put in hoot is a worse version of that. less context, my prompt instead of yours, my model instead of the one you picked.

what's there instead

hoot has an mcp server. a token per project. you connect claude code, cursor, codex, whatever reads mcp.

fourteen tools. list, search, get, compare. move a card, categorize it, merge duplicates, add a comment, publish the changelog. project stats for the week.

the agent does the reading. you do the yes. the tools are written so the agent presents tradeoffs and asks before anything destructive. rejecting still needs a reason. merging still asks.

it's on the free plan. same tools as pro.

the thing i'm avoiding

every feedback tool is adding an ai layer right now. summaries, sentiment, auto-tags.

they all end the same way: a paragraph you skim, a tag you don't trust, a score nobody acts on. it makes the board feel handled without anyone handling it.

i'd rather you open your editor, ask "what's waiting on me on hoot," and get an answer from something that knows what you're doing.

what i might still build

nothing that summarizes. nothing that decides.

if a button ever shows up, it'll be a shortcut to the agent, not a replacement for it. the model is yours. the context is yours. the board is just the data.
